Our team has a wealth of deep technology and startup experience and has been involved with a number of high-growth companies and open source projects.
Roger Chen, Co-Founder & CEO
Previously worked with startups in AI/ML, robotics, and digital biology as a VC at O'Reilly AlphaTech Ventures (OATV). Hacked on photons as a nanoscale and quantum optics PhD researcher at UC Berkeley. Engineered and broke stuff at Oracle, EMC, and Vicor.
Bharath Ramsundar, Co-Founder & CTO
Bharath did his PhD in Computer Science at Stanford University on deep-learning for drug-discovery, where he created the deepchem.io open-source project and co-created the moleculenet.ai benchmark suite. Bharath co-authored “TensorFlow for Deep Learning: From Linear Regression to Reinforcement Learning” with O’Reilly. He is a Hertz Fellow -- the most competitive and prestigious graduate fellowship in science.
Alok Vasudev, Co-Founder & Director
Alok’s worked with startups in crypto, genomics, and AI. He’s been a VC at Spectrum 28 and Benchmark. Before that he was an engineer and scientist in semiconductors and nanophotonics.
Rob Robbins, Senior Engineer
Previously a Senior Software Engineer at PlanGrid, TaskRabbit, Apple and Skype. Also got a rock band signed to a major label producing an album you can still buy today.
Reid Williams, Product
Prior to Computable Labs, Reid led the AI portfolio in the CoLab, a group at IDEO focused on product design, emerging technologies, and rapid prototyping. Reid has a PhD in systems biology from UCSF and studied computer science as an undergraduate at MIT.
Fattaneh Bayatbabolghani, Research Fellow
Fattaneh is a postdoctoral scholar at UC Berkeley. Previously a PhD researcher in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Notre Dame. Her primary research interest is in designing general and efficient privacy-preserving solutions motivated by real-world applications.
Ken Mitsumoto, Senior Engineer
Ken has cut code with teams all over the Bay Area and the world including Hotwire, TaskRabbit, Apple, ServiceNow, and Dentsu. He has a BA in Mathematics from Reed College and lives in Bali, Indonesia.
Melvin Mallari, Engineer
Melvin received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Davis. With previous experience in mechanical design, rapid prototyping and manufacturing, he later transitioned to software engineering. Through self study and a coding immersive at App Academy, he is now a Software Engineer at Computable.
